The Engagement Story

Now that we're all caught up on years past let's focus on the present:) Jeremy and I became officially engaged on August 14, 2010. He knows how picky I am about having a good story and wanting everything to be perfect, so he had his work cut out for him in finding a way to propose to me. He did a great job and it was everything I could have hoped for and then some;) You'll see what I mean in a minute.
I actually knew that it was coming about 4 or 5 weeks before he actually proposed to me. We knew we wanted to get married and that we were both ready, but we were very busy people this summer and finding a weekend that we were both in town and not working all day was a challenge. The weekend finally came though and we got up early Saturday morning to drive up to Heber City. He has a friend up there that has horses and knows some good hiking trails up that way. He had told me that we wouldn't be able to go horseback riding which was really disappointing to me because I am a huge fan of horses. However, when we got there the horses were all ready to go. That was surprise number 1 for the day. We packed a lunch and got on our way. As we were riding I started to notice something. I was sneezing every two or three seconds, my throat was closing up and it was becoming difficult to breathe, and my eyes were starting to itch. Yep, you guessed it. I'm allergic to horses. Go figure. So our ride got cut short and we had to settle for a short hike up the mountain side. It was gorgeous up there! Jeremy and I sat down and were just talking about nothing really important. Then we decided that it was time to head back down. When we stood up he started playing with the necklace I was wearing. (Now I have to insert a quick side note about this necklace. It's just a chain with a ring on it. The ring is his that I stole/he gave to me when we first started dating in May. Now back to the story...) I thought he was moving the ring from the back to the front, but instead he switched the ring out for my GORGEOUS diamond ring. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes:)
About that same time I finally gave in to my itching eyes and rubbed them. Big mistake. They puffed up almost instantly and I could now hardly see and hardly breathe. We hurried back to town to buy some allergy medicine and then headed up to Bountiful where his sister lives to get ready for part two of the best day of my life thus far. We got all dressed up and went to the Cheesecake Factory. I LOVE the Cheesecake Factory. Almost as much as I love Jeremy:) I have now converted him to the Cheesecake Factory too. It was a perfect ending to the perfect engagement story!
I am so happy to be engaged to my best friend. I can't wait to become his wife. I'm so blessed to have him in my life!

From way back when...

Here are some fun pictures from way back when...
Look at all that hair! hehe:)
We were in the same group for senior ball, but of course I was his friend's date not his.
We like to pull faces for pictures.
The last one is on the day of his farewell...the last time i saw him before he left for his mission.

The beginning of our happily ever after...

I want to start by telling you all our story. It's a cute one really. I couldn't have written it better if I tried. I'll try to tell parts the way he tells it because it's really a lot cuter that way. He and I remember things differently but the basic idea is the same. We started off friends and then fell in love.
He said...
The first time we met each other was when he was in 13 and working at the Bluff Street Park soccer fields. My brother had bought a snow cone and someone hadn't put enough flavor on it, so I had to go back with him to ask for more flavoring. That was the first time he saw me and according to him he fell in love instantly and knew right then and there he was going to marry me. I personally don't remember any of this at all.

Jeremy and I both worked at the snow shack and we got to be really good friends over the years. I wasn't really interested in him as anything more than a friend though for quite some time. Years in fact. He tried and I denied. I dated his two best friends. He was my go-to-in-the-middle-of-the-night-and-cry-to friend. We would stay up sitting on his couch just talking and laughing and occasionally crying (I did most of the talking, he most of the laughing, and me again on the crying). I thought we had an understanding, we were just friends. Nothing more. Little did I know....
He said...
He was in love with me the whole time. All those late nights when I would tell him about the guys I was dating and how they had broken my heart he wanted to break their faces. He loved me and knew he was better for me than them. He tried and I denied some more. He had all but given up on me when the summer of 2007 rolled around.

I had moved home from college for the summer and he had just broken up with his girlfriend. I was still holding on to the "just friends" thing though. Or so I thought. He went out of town for a week with his family and to my great surprise I really missed him. This was the turning point. I went out of town the next and while I was gone I made up my mind to finally say yes to him. He had told me a couple weeks before that all I had to do was say "yes" and we'd be together. I went straight to his house the night I got back fully prepared to leave there as his girlfriend. Unfortunately it didn't go as planned.
He said...
I was too late. He was going on a mission. His papers were all filled out and ready to go. I was too late.

I was crushed and confused. This wasn't going as planned. I was just supposed to say "yes" and then it would be happily ever after. Right? There I was saying yes and he was telling me no. We talked for a bit longer and decided to give a test run for a week and just go on a date or two and see where it takes us. Well it took us right where we both secretly wanted it to and he kissed me a few days later. My first kiss. We started dating officially just after that and the rest is history.

There are a lot of details left out of that, but that's the general idea. Since then we have both served missions. When I got home in April it didn't take long for us to figure out that this was what we wanted. I love him with all my heart, and I am so grateful he stuck with me all those years. He is one patient man, but it paid off in the end. We're finally getting our happily ever after.

here goes nothin...

I've never had a blog before. I'm really not the kind of person that likes to do things like this. I don't write in journals. I rarely scrapbook anymore. I want to give this a shot though and see where it takes me. I hope that it also helps friends and family keep updated on my life, or our lives I suppose, since I have been completely slacking in the keeping in touch with people department lately. Sorry if you're one of those that I still haven't called back or been in touch with recently. I know this is no excuse, but my life is crazy busy right now. School full time + work + planning a wedding = a very stressful me. Well this is a good start and there will be more to come soon I promise:) I'm off to study like I should've been doing for the last 2 hours but haven't been. Oops.
